Administering APM

Now that you have the core components configured, let’s focus on administration. It’s important for you to know how to best manage Splunk Application Performance Monitoring in order to optimize usage throughout your organization.

You can find all of the documentation for administration-related activities here, as well as our prescriptive Getting Started Guide for Admins. But let’s touch on a few of the most important administration activities to be aware of as you get started:

  • Create and manage users. Add users to the instance and begin onboarding their data.
  • Access tokens. Use authentication tokens to authenticate Splunk APM API requests, track API usage and control your use of resources.
  • Manage billing and usage. Understand your APM subscription usage and billing.
  • Permissions. Manage permissions on detectors, dashboard groups and dashboards.
