Telling stories with your data using data visualizations
In your role as an analyst, you need to be able to identify trends and extract insights from sometimes disparate data points. Doing so can sometimes require a visualization, like a chart, to help you fully understand the relationship of data points in relation to other factors, such as time. You might also need to use visualizations when sharing what you're seeing with others who don't have the same background as you, and might not be able to see the same themes in your data that you do. In these situations, you need to understand how to best use your data visualizations to tell stories - where your data points are used to express ideas, patterns, and insights that can help you and others better understand what's happening.
Solution
Splunk visualizations help to display data graphically, express ideas more clearly, see relationships or trends, and draw conclusions from your data.
This video shows you how to develop an effective approach to working with visualizations. It covers how to:
- Use transforming commands to structure your data in specific ways for specific visualizations
- Create a story from your data
- Pick different types of visualizations, such as different chart types, to demonstrate that story
